Disc jockey(Dj)
A disc jockey (also known as DJ or deejay) is a person who selects and plays prerecorded music for an audience.

There are several types of disc jockey. Radio DJs introduce and play music that is broadcast on AM, FM, shortwave or digital radio stations. Club DJs select and play music in a bar, club, disco, a rave, or even a stadium. Hip hop disc jockeys select, play and create music with multiple turntables, often to back up one or more MCs. In reggae, the disc jockey (deejay) is a vocalist who raps, toasts or chats over pre-recorded rhythm tracks while the individual choosing and playing them is referred to as a selector. Mobile disc jockeys travel with portable sound systems and play at a variety of events.

Equipment and techniques

DJ equipment consists of:

Sound recordings in a DJs preferred medium (eg. vinyl records, compact discs, computer media files)
A combination of two devices, or sometimes one if playback is digital, to play sound recordings, for alternating back and forth to create a continuous playback of music (e.g. record players, compact disc players, computer media players such as an MP3 player)
A sound system for amplification or broadcasting of the recordings (e.g. portable audio system, PA system) or a radio broadcasting system.
A DJ mixer, an electronic, usually two-four channel, mixer with a crossfader used to smoothly go from one song to another (using two or more playback devices)
Headphones, used to listen to one recording while the other recording is being played to the audience, and
Optionally, a microphone, so that the DJ can introduce songs and speak to the audience.

Other equipment could or can be added to the basic DJ set-up (above) providing unique sound manipulations. Such devices include, but are not limited to:

Electronic effects units (delay, reverb, octave, equalizer, chorus, etc). Some club DJs use a suboctave effect which creates a very low bass sound and adds it to the mix.
A computerised performance system, which can be used with timecode encoded vinyl/CD content to manipulate digital files on the computer in real time.
Multi-stylus headshells, which allow a DJ to play different grooves of the same record at the same time.
Special DJ digital controller hardware can manipulate digital files on a PC or laptop, by using midi signals
Samplers, sequencers, electronic musical keyboards (synthesizers), or drum machines.

Several techniques are used by DJs as a means to better mix and blend prerecorded music. These techniques primarily include the cueing, equalization and audio mixing of two or more sound sources., complexity, and frequency of special techniques depends largely on the setting in which a DJ is working. Radio DJs are less likely to focus on music-mixing technique than club DJs, who rely on a smooth transition between songs using a range of techniques.

Club DJ turntable techniques include beatmatching, phrasing, and slip-cueing) to preserve energy on a dancefloor. Turntablism embodies the art of cutting, beat juggling, scratching, needle drops, phase shifting, back spinning, and more to perform the transitions and overdubs of samples in a more creative manner (though turntablism is often considered a use of the turntable as a musical instrument, rather than a tool for blending prerecorded music). Professional DJs may use harmonic mixing to choose songs that are in compatible musical keys.

Video Jockey (VJ)
A video jockey (usually abbreviated to VJ or sometimes veejay) is an announcer who introduces and plays videos on commercial music television such as MTV, VH1 Canada's MuchMusic. Asia's Channel V

Origins of the term
The term "video jockey" is a derivative of the term "disc jockey", "DJ" (deejay) as used in radio. The term was popularised in the 1980s by the Music Television Network (MTV). (See List of MTV VJs.)

The founders of MTV got their idea from studying Merrill Aldighieri, the person to invent the job of Video Jockey and its term. Merrill worked in the New York nightclub "HURRAH" which was the first public arena featuring video with music in New York City. When Merrill was invited to show her experimental film in the club, she asked if she could first develop a use for video to compliment the DJ music so that when her film would be played, it would become part of a club ambiance and not be seen as a break in the evening. The experiment was such a success she was invited to stay.

Several months later the future-founders of MTV started coming to the club regularly, interviewing her and taking notes. She told them she was a VJ, the term she invented with a staff member to put on her first payslip. She was invited to show her collection of live performance videos she was creating nightly to form the base of MTV, but when she asked if she could be paid, they refused, so she declined their offer. Her video jockey memoirs have a complete list of all the live music she documented during her VJ breaks. There are over 100 hours of groups filmed including many US debuts. There were no music video clips available in 1980 and all had to be created from scratch. Her method of performing as a video jockey consisted of improvising live clips using a video camera, projected film loops, and switching between 2 U-matic video decks. Many video artists contributed raw and finished works which were used as part of a visual arsenal. Stock footage was also incorporated. During her year of experimentation she developed the genre of ambient video music, collaborating with an electronic musician, Richard Bone to make a video music album, "Emerging Video".

When the club closed she was invited to direct the video lounge of another club, Danceteria, where she developed the incorporation of more public participation. Live television was brought into the mix as well as public microphones and teletext. Shortly after being mugged one night on her way to work she dropped her career of video jockey, took a self-defense course and focused on building her production company.

Strawberry

Strawberry fruits are aggregates made up of several small fruits, each with one seed called an achene. The flesh of the strawberry is actually an enlarged receptacle, non-reproductive material.

Cheese

Cheese is a food made from milk, usually of cows, buffalos, goats, or sheep, by coagulation. Herbs, spices, or wood smoke may be used as flavoring agents. The yellow to red color of many cheeses is a result of adding annatto. Cheeses are eaten both on their own and cooked in various dishes; most cheeses melt when heated.

For a few cheeses, the milk is curdled by adding acids such as vinegar or lemon juice. Most cheeses are acidified to a lesser degree by bacteria, which turn milk sugars into lactic acid, then the addition of rennet completes the curdling. Vegetarian alternatives to rennet are available; most are produced by fermentation of the fungus Mucor miehei, but others have been extracted from various species of the Cynara thistle family.

Cheese has served as a hedge against famine and is a good travel food. It is valuable for its portability, long life, and high content of fat, protein, calcium, and phosphorus. Cheese is more compact and has a longer shelf life than the milk from which it is made. Cheesemakers near a dairy region may benefit from fresher, lower-priced milk, and lower shipping costs. The long storage life of cheese allows selling it when markets are more favorable.

Cake

Cake is a form of food that is usually sweet and often baked. Cakes normally combine some kind of flour, a sweetening agent (commonly sugar), a binding agent (generally egg, though gluten or starch are often used by vegetarians and vegans), fats (usually butter, shortening, or margarine, although a fruit purée such as applesauce is sometimes substituted to avoid using fat), a liquid (milk, water or fruit juice), flavors and some form of leavening agent (such as yeast or baking powder), though many cakes lack these ingredients and instead rely on air bubbles in the dough to expand and cause the cake to rise. Cake is often frosted with buttercream or marzipan, and finished with piped borders and crystallized fruit.

Cake is often the dessert of choice for meals at ceremonial occasions, particularly weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. There are literally millions of cake recipes (some are bread-like and some rich and elaborate) and many are centuries old. Cake making is no longer a complicated procedure; while at one time considerable labor went into cake making (particularly the whisking of egg foams), baking equipment and directions have been so perfected and simplified that even the amateur cook may easily become an expert baker.

Cheesecakes are generally made with soft, fresh cheeses. Other ingredients such as sugar, eggs, and cream are often mixed in as well. Flavourings such as rum or chocolate may be added, and a fruit topping, like strawberries, are frequently added. Typically, the pie filling or topping covers a crust, which may be pastry, cookie, or digestive biscuit.

The word cheesecake is also used to describe the creamy, cheesy flavour of the dessert. In this usage, there are cheesecake yogurts, ice creams, brownies, and cookies. There are also savoury cheesecakes, often flavoured with blue cheese and served as hors d'oeuvres or with accompanying salads.

Dessert

Dessert is a course that typically comes at the end of a meal, usually consisting of sweet food but sometimes of a strongly-flavored one, such as some cheeses. The word comes from the Old French desservir, "to clear the table." Common desserts include cakes, cookies, fruits, pastries, ice cream, and candies.

The word dessert is most commonly used for this course in U.S., Canada, Australia, and Ireland, while sweet, pudding or afters would be more typical terms in the UK and some other Commonwealth countries, including India. According to Debrett's, pudding is the proper term, dessert is only to be used if the course consists of fruit, and sweet is colloquial. This, of course, reflects the upper-class/upper-middle-class usage. More commonly, the words simply form a class shibboleth; pudding being the upper-class and upper-middle-class word to use for sweet food served after the main course, sweet, afters and dessert being considered non-U. However, dessert is considered slightly better than the other two, owing to many young people, whose parents say pudding, acquiring the word from American media.

Although the custom of eating fruits and nuts after a meal may be very old, dessert as a standard part of a Western meal is a relatively recent development.[citation needed] Before the rise of the middle class in the 19th-century, and the mechanization of the sugar industry, sweets were a privilege of the aristocracy, or a rare holiday treat. As sugar became cheaper and more readily available, the development and popularity of desserts spread accordingly.

Some have a separate final sweet course but mix sweet and savoury dishes throughout the meal as in Chinese cuisine, or reserve elaborate dessert concoctions for special occasions. Often, the dessert is seen as a separate meal or snack rather than a course, and may be eaten apart from the meal (usually in less formal settings). Some restaurants specialize in dessert. In colloquial American usage "dessert" has a broader meaning and can refer to anything sweet that follows a meal, including milkshakes and other beverages.

South Korea

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (or ROK) and often referred to as Korea (Korean: 대한민국, IPA: [tɛː.han.min.ɡuk̚], Hanja: 大韓民國) is a presidential republic in East Asia, occupying the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its Korean name means "The Great Nation of the Korean People," sometimes referred to as the "Land of the Morning Calm." It is bordered by North Korea to the north, with which it was united until 1945, China to the west and Japan to the east. Its capital and largest city is Seoul, the world's second largest metropolitan city.

Korea is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, with its foundation dating back to 2333 BC by the legendary Dangun Wanggeom. Archaeological research shows that Koreans inhabited the peninsula as early as the Lower Paleolithic. Following the unification of the Three Korean Kingdoms under Silla in 668 AD, Korea went through the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty as one nation until the end of the Korean Empire in 1910. After division, South Korea was established in 1948 and has since rapidly recovered from the Japanese invasion (1910–1945) and Korean war (1950–1953), operating a succesful and stable democracy since the first direct election in 1987.

South Korea is a major global economic power and one of the wealthiest countries in Asia. It had one of the most successful and fastest growing economies in the world since the 1960s, now highly developed and one of the three largest in Asia and 13th largest in the world. Forming the G20 industrial nations and the world's top ten exporters, it is an APEC and OECD member, defined as a High Income Nation by the World Bank and an Advanced Economy by the IMF and CIA. A global military power, it has the world's sixth largest armed forces and one of the ten highest military expenditures in the world. Nicknamed as an Asian Tiger, it is still among the world's fastest growing developed countries and a Next Eleven state, forecasted to surpass the income per capita of Germany, UK and France in 16 years.Today, its success story is known as the "Miracle on the Han River", a role model for many developing countries.

South Korea plays a key role in international trade and is one of the world's leading countries in science and technology. It has a very advanced and modern infrastructure and is a world leader in information technology such as electronics, telecommunications, semiconductors, LCD displays, computers, cell phones and high-tech gadgets, led by Samsung and LG. Home of the world's third largest steel producer, POSCO, it is the world's largest shipbuilder and one of the world's top five automobile manufacturers, headed by Hyundai and Kia. It is also a leading country in engineering, construction, machinery, textiles, petrochemicals, biotechnology and robotics.

South Korea Military

The South Korean military is composed of the Army (ROKA), the Navy (ROKN), the Air Force (ROKAF), and the Marine Corps (ROKMC), together with reserve forces. Many of these forces are concentrated near the border with North Korea, near the demilitarized zone. All South Korean males are constitutionally required to serve in the military, typically for a period of two years. However, there has been debates about shortening the length of the military services, and even dismissing the mandatory service itself. The government recently allowed some male students who were in the process of earning a university bachelor's degree and master's degree to dismiss the military requirements to let them to further study and research on their fields.

From time to time, South Korea has sent its troops overseas to assist American forces. It has participated in most major conflicts that the United States has been involved in the past 50 years. South Korea dispatched 320,000 troops to fight alongside American, Australian and South Vietnamese soldiers in the Vietnam War, with a peak strength of 50,000. Most recently, South Korea sent 3,300 troops of the Zaytun Division to help re-building in northern Iraq, and is the largest contributor in the coalition forces after the US and Britain.

The United States has stationed a substantial contingent of troops in South Korea since the Korean War to defend South Korea in case of a North Korean attack. There are also approximately 29,000 US soldiers stationed in Korea, most of them serving one year of unaccompanied tours. The American Troops ,which call "8th ARMY" are stationed in bases [Osan, Youngsan, Dongducheon, Sungbok,and Daegu], of which most are camps, which are considered camps not for their lack of buildings or support structure but in order to represent a lack of permanence.

A still functioning UN Command controls all forces in South Korea, including the US forces and the entire Korean military.

Currently, the South Korean navy is working towards being a blue-water navy. It has recently acquired its first Aegis combat system-enabled destroyer, the King Sejong the Great class destroyer. South Korea is the fifth country to begin operating an Aegis Combat System-enabled surface ship.

South Korea Economy

South Korea is a major global economic power, having the 12th largest economy in the world and the third largest in Asia, forming the "Big Three" economies in Asia along with China and Japan. Its largest trading partner and export market today is China. South Korea has achieved rapid economic growth through exports of manufactured goods, and was one of the Four Asian Tigers. Major industries in South Korea today are automobiles, semiconductors, electronics, shipbuilding, and steel.

In the 1950s, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in Asia, its infrastructure and resources severely exploited during the Japanese occupation and completely destroyed by the Korean War. However, following the military coup led by General Park Chung-hee in 1962, South Korea experiences one of the fastest growing economies in the world's history for four straight decades, completely transforming from a farming and fishing based economy into one of the world's most high-tech and leading industrial powers of today.

Park Chung-hee embarked a series of ambitious five-year plans for economic development similar to the macro-economic schemes of the Soviet Union. Emphasis shifted to foreign trade with the normalization of relations with Japan in 1965, which resulted in a boom in trade and investment. Rapid expansion, first into light and then heavy industries, so in 1973 Korea became the 34th wealthiest country in the world.Park's government plans for economic development greatly boosted the Korean economy.

This growth is often called the "Miracle on the Han River", the Han River being the main river that runs through the nation's capital and largest city, Seoul. In the 1980s and 1990s, growth continued as South Korea transformed itself from an exporter of mostly textiles and shoes into a major global producer of automobiles, electronics, shipbuilding, steel and, later, high-technology products such as digital monitors, mobile phones, and semiconductors.

The South Korean model of encouraging the growth of large, internationally competitive companies through easy financing and tax incentives led to the dominance of the family-controlled conglomerates. These companies, known as chaebol, flourished under the support of the Park regime.Some such as Hyundai, Samsung, LG and SK Company became global corporations.

Since the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis the corporate landscape has changed considerably as a result of massive bankruptcies and government reforms. The crisis exposed longstanding weaknesses in South Korea's economy, including high debt-to-equity ratios, massive foreign borrowing, and an undisciplined financial sector. This led to two rounds of financial and industrial restructuring; once in 1997 and again following the collapse of Daewoo in 1999. Daewoo's collapse has been recorded as one of the largest bankruptcies in world history. By 2003, just over one-half of the 30 largest chaebol from 1995 remained.

Between 2003 and 2005, economic growth had slowed to about 4% per year. A downturn in consumer spending, attributed to massive personal credit card debt, was offset by rapid export growth, primarily to China. In 2005, the government proposed labor reform legislation and a corporate pension scheme to help make the labor market more flexible, and new real estate policies to cool property speculation.In 2006, South Korean economy has recovered its growth rate to 5.1%.

The South Korean economy is characterized by moderate inflation, low unemployment, an export surplus, and fairly equal distribution of income.

Today, there are several strong South Korean industries. South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Company and its subsidiary Kia Motors are the fifth largest car group in the world.Korean carmakers are planning to increase their exports even more when Korea finishes its FTA with the European Union.

South Korea's shipbuilding industry is the largest in the world. It became the largest after overtaking Japan in 2004.South Korean shipbuilding is efficient enough that a new $80 million vessel is produced every four working days. In 2006, approximately one in every three new vessels was constructed in Korea. Hyundai Heavy Industries built ships totaling 10.6 million compensated gross tons (CGTs), or 34.6 percent, becoming the first nation to breach the 10 million CGT mark. Other Korean shipbuilding companies are Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Marine Engineering & Construction.

Although South Korean shipmakers are leading in terms of ship orders and production, they are wary of Chinese shipmakers. China is planning to become the world's leader in shipbuilding by 2015. However, South Korean shipbuilders have advantage over Chinese counterparts in terms of advanced value-added shipbuilding technology.

Transportation

Transportation in South Korea is provided by an extensive network of railways, highways, bus routes, ferry services, and air routes. Buses, taxis, subways, and trains provide comfortable and cheap methods of travel around South Korea. Major cities have subway systems, including the popular Seoul Subway. It has eight different systems which are separated by different colors and busan, gyoung ju, daegu,and daejun also have new subway system. Korail commuter lines are already linked with Seoul's subway system and several commuter lines connected with Busan and Daegu subway systems are under construction. They have intercity and intracity bus systems. Metropolitan Cities have express bus terminals.

Highways in South Korea are classified into highways (expressways/motorways), national highways, and various classifications below the national level. Korea Highway Corporation operates the toll highways and service amenities en route. South Korea has about 3,000 kilometers of national highways.

Korail provides frequent train service to all major South Korean cities. Two rail lines, Gyeongui and Donghae Bukbu Line, to North Korea are now being reconnected. The Korean high-speed rail system, KTX, provides high-speed service along Gyeongbu and Honam Line. KTX had been built with France and Japan's technological cooperation, but government intentionally had made it non-public.

The main international airport is Incheon International Airport. South Korea has eight international airports and seven domestic airports. South Korea's major international air carriers are Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. About 71 international passenger and cargo airlines operate frequent flight services between Korea and all over the world.

Acting

Acting is the work of an actor or actress, which is a person in theatre, television, film, or any other storytelling medium who tells the story by portraying a character and, usually, speaking or singing the written text or play.

Definition and history
The word acting is derived from the Latin word pretentious meaning "to speak with an accent." However, it literally comes from the verb "to act" which means "take action", this is the central basis of any drama and the essence of an actors job. i.e an actor must act, note this is does not mean pretend it means do, an actor is always doing something, or acting on something, this is where the word actor comes from, as is summarises an actors job. In acting, an actor suppresses or augments aspects of their personality in order to reveal the actions and motivations of the character for particular moments in time. The actor is said to be "assuming the role" of another, usually for the benefit of an audience, but also because it can bring one a sense of artistic satisfaction. The first actor is believed to be Thespis of Icaria, a man of ancient Greece. "Plays" of this time, called choric dithyrambs, involved a chorus of 50 who sang the story to the audience. The possibly apocryphal story says that Thespis stepped out of the chorus and spoke to them as a separate character in the story. Before Thespis, the chorus in all plays would sing in a narrative way, "Dionysus did this, Dionysus said that." When Thespis stepped out from the chorus, he said "I am Dionysus. I did this." From Thespis' name derives the word thespian, meaning any sort of performer but chiefly an actor. The International Thespian to possess a number of skills, including good vocal projection, clarity of speech, physical expressiveness, a good sense of perspective, emotional availability, a well developed imagination, the ability to analyze and understand dramatic text, and the ability to emulate or generate emotional and physical conditions. Well-rounded actors are often also skilled in singing, dancing, emotional expressiveness, imitating dialects and accents, improvisation, observation and emulation, mime, stage combat, and performing classical texts such as Shakespeare. Many actors train at length in special programs or colleges to develop these skills, which have a wide range of different artistic philosophies and processes.

Professional actors
Not all people working as actors in film, television or theatre are professionally trained. Chances of succeeding as an actor are greatly enhanced by studying drama at a university or college, or attending an acting conservatory. Conservatories typically offer two to four year training on all aspects of acting. Universities will offer three to four year programs, where a student can choose to focus on acting, while still learning about other aspects of theatre. Schools will vary in their approach, but in North America the most popular method taught is the 'inside out' technique, developed by Stanislavski in his early years and popularized in America by Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler. Others may include a more physical approach, following the teachings of Jerzy Grotowski and others. Regardless of a school's approach, students should expect intensive training in textual interpretation, voice and movement. Applications to drama programs and conservatories are through auditions in the United States. Anybody over the age of 18 can usually apply to drama school.

Actor

An actor, actress, player or rarely thespian (see terminology) is a person who acts in a dramatic production and who works in film, television, theatre, or radio in that capacity. The ancient Greek word for an actor, ὑποκριτής (hypokrites), when rendered as a verb means "to interpret"; in this sense, an actor is one who interprets a dramatic character.

Terminology
The word actor refers to one who acts, while actress refers specifically to a female who acts. The Oxford English Dictionary states that originally "'actor' was used for both sexes". The English word actress does not derive from the Latin actrix, probably not even by way of French actrice; according to the Oxford English Dictionary, actress was "probably formed independently" in English. As actress is a specifically feminine word, some feminists assert that the word is sexist. Gender-neutral usage of actor has re-emerged in modern English, especially when referring to male and female performers collectively, but actress remains a commonly used word.

The gender-neutral term player was common in film in the early days of the Production Code, but is now generally deemed archaic. However, it remains in use in the theatre, often incorporated into the name of a theatre group or company (such as the East West Players).

History
The first recorded case of an actor performing took place in 534 BC (probably on 23 November, though the changes in calendar over the years make it hard to determine exactly) when the Greek performer Thespis stepped on to the stage at the Theatre Dionysus and became the first known person to speak words as a character in a play or story. Prior to Thespis' act, stories were only known to be told in song and dance and in third person narrative. In honour of Thespis,a 6th century B.C poet, actors are commonly called Thespians. Theatrical legend to this day maintains that Thespis exists as a mischievous spirit, and disasters in the theatre are sometimes blamed on his ghostly intervention.

Actors were traditionally not people of high status, and in the Early Middle Ages travelling acting troupes were often viewed with distrust. In many parts of Europe, actors could not even receive a Christian burial, and traditional beliefs of the region and time period held that this left any actor forever condemned. However, this negative perception was largely reversed in the 19th and 20th centuries as acting has become an honored and popular profession and art. Part of the cause is the easier popular access to dramatic film entertainment and the resulting rise of the movie star—as regards both their social status and the salaries they command.[citation needed] The combination of public presence and wealth has profoundly rehabilitated their image.

In the past, only men could become actors in some societies. In the ancient Greece and Rome and the medieval world, it was considered disgraceful for a woman to go on the stage, and this belief continued right up until the 17th century, when in Venice it was broken. In the time of William Shakespeare, women's roles were generally played by men or boys. The British prohibition(Victor Andersen) was ended in the reign of Charles II who enjoyed watching female actors (actresses) on stage.

Techniques
Acting and actresses employ a variety of techniques that are learned through training and experience. Some of these are:
1. The rigorous use of the voice to communicate a character's lines and express emotion. This is achieved through attention to diction and projection through correct breathing and articulation. It is also achieved through the tone and emphasis that an actor puts on words
2. Physicalisation of a role in order to create a believable character for the audience and to use the acting space appropriately and correctly
3. Use of gesture to complement the voice, interact with other actors and to bring emphasis to the words in a play, as well as having symbolic meaning.

Shakespeare is believed to have been commenting on the acting style and techniques of his era when Hamlet gives his advice to the players in the play-within-the-play. He encourages the actors to “speak the speech ... as I pronounced it to you,” and avoid “saw[ing] the air too much with your hand” , because even in a “whirlwind of passion, you must ... give it smoothness.” On the other hand, Hamlet urges the players to “Be not too tame neither.” He suggests that they make sure to “suit the action to the word, the word to the action”, taking care to “o'erstep not the modesty of nature.” As well, he told the players to not “... let those that play your clowns ... laugh, to set on some quantity of barren spectators to laugh too,” which Hamlet considered to be a “villainous” and “pitiful” tactic.

As opposite sex
Historically, acting was considered a man's profession; so, in Shakespeare's time, for instance, men and boys played all roles, including the female parts. However when an eighteen year Puritan prohibition of drama was lifted after the English Restoration of 1660, women began to appear on stage. The first occurrence of the term actress in the OED being by Dryden in 1700.

In Japan, men (onnagata) took over the female roles in kabuki theatre when women were banned from performing on stage during the Edo period. However, some forms of Chinese drama have females playing all the roles.

In modern times, women sometimes play the roles of prepubescent boys. The stage role of Peter Pan, for example, is traditionally played by a woman, as are the principal boy and dame in British pantomime. This is uncommon in film, however, except in animated films and television programmes, where boys are sometimes voiced by women. For example, in The Simpsons the voice of Bart Simpson is provided by Nancy Cartwright. Opera has several "pants roles" traditionally sung by women, usually mezzo-sopranos. Examples are Hansel in Hänsel und Gretel, and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro.

Having an actor dress as the opposite sex for comic effect is also a long standing tradition in comic theatre and film. Most of Shakespeare's comedies include instances of overt cross-dressing, such as Francis Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream. The movie A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum stars Jack Gilford dressing as a young bride. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon famously posed as women to escape gangsters in the Billy Wilder film Some Like It Hot. Cross-dressing for comic effect was a frequently used device in most of the thirty Carry On films. Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams each appeared in a hit comedy film in which they played most scenes dressed as a woman.

Several roles in modern plays and musicals are played by a member of the opposite sex (rather than a character cross-dressing), such as the character Edna Turnblad in Hairspray — played by Divine in the original film, Harvey Fierstein in the Broadway musical, and John Travolta in the 2007 movie musical. Occasionally the issue is further complicated through a woman acting as a man pretending to be a woman, like Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria or Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love.

Supermodel

A supermodel is a highly-paid elite fashion model who usually has a worldwide reputation and often a background in haute couture and commercial modeling.The term took hold in the popular culture of the 1980s and 1990s.

Application

The elite models who are given the appellation of "supermodel" often share similar traits. These models are reputable in the fashion industry. They usually work for top fashion designers and labels. They have multi-million dollar contracts, endorsements and campaigns. They have branded themselves as household names and worldwide recognition is associated with their modeling careers.They have been on the covers of various magazines. Claudia Schiffer stated, "In order to become a supermodel one must be on all the covers all over the world at the same time so that people can recognise the girls."First-name recognition is a solid indication of supermodel status in the fashion industry.

History

Origin of the term
According to Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women by Michael Gross, the first known use of the term "supermodel" was in the 1940s by an agent named Clyde Matthew Dessner in a 1943 "how-to" book he wrote about modeling.However, a writer named Judith Cass used the term prior to Dessner in October 1942 for her article in the Chicago Tribune, which headlined "Super Models are Signed for Fashion Show".The term "supermodel" took hold in the popular culture of the 1980s and 1990s.

Janice Dickinson has frequently but erroneously claimed to be the originator of the term. In an interview with ET, Janice Dickinson claimed to have coined the term "supermodel" in 1979, as a compound of superman and model. According to her, her agent Monique Pilar of Elite Modeling Agency, asked her, "Janice, who do you think you are, Superman?" She replied saying, "No... I'm a supermodel, honey, and you will refer to me as a supermodel and you will start a supermodel division." Dickinson also claims to be the first supermodel.

However, the term "supermodel" had been used several times in the media prior to Dickinson's claim. Some examples can be seen: in May 1967 The Salisbury Daily Times referred to Twiggy as a supermodel; the February 1968 article of Glamour magazine listed all 19 "supermodels"; the Chicago Daily Defender wrote "New York Designer Turns Super Model" in January 1970; the Washington Post and Mansfield News Journal used the term in 1971; and in 1974 both the Chicago Tribune and Advocate also used the term "supermodel" in their articles. American Vogue used the term "supermodel" on the cover page to describe Margaux Hemingway in the September 1, 1975 edition.

First supermodel

Lisa Fonssagrives is considered by most in the fashion industry as the world's first supermodel. Fonssagrives was in most of the major fashion and general interest magazines from the 1930s to the 1950s, including Town & Country, Life, Vogue, the original Vanity Fair, and Time. The relationship between her image on over 200 Vogue covers and her name recognition led to the future importance of Vogue in shaping future supermodels.

1960s - 1970s

In 1968, an article in Glamour described Twiggy, Cheryl Tiegs, Wilhelmina, Veruschka, Jean Shrimpton, Lynn Sutherland, and fifteen other top models as "supermodels." The term supermodel gained currency in the 1960s by analogy with Andy Warhol's "Superstars." Of the prominent models of the 1960s, "Twiggy" (Lesley Hornby) is an example of a supermodel of the era, as is Donyale Luna, the first African American model to appear in Vogue. The first African American model to be on the cover of American Vogue was Beverly Johnson.

In the 1970s, some models became more prominent as their names became more recognizable to the general public. In 1975, Margaux Hemingway landed a then-unprecedented million-dollar contract as the face of Faberge's Babe perfume and the same year appeared on the cover of Time magazine, labelled as one of the "New Beauties," giving further name recognition to fashion models. Other prominent models of the 1970s included Janice Dickinson, Cheryl Tiegs, Jerry Hall, Iman Abdulmajid, Patti Hansen, Anna Bayle, Beverly Johnson, Gia Carangi and Christie Brinkley.

1980s - 1990s: Supermodel Era

In the early 1980s, fashion designers began advertising on television and billboards. Models became individually familiar to the masses, no longer nameless but beautiful faces. Catwalk regulars like Carol Alt and Paulina Porizkova began to endorse products with their names as well as their faces, getting in front of everything from Diet Pepsi to Ford Trucks. Elle Macpherson, who became known as "The Body," sold more pin-up posters than any actress in Hollywood. As the Models began to embrace old-style glamour, they were starting to replace movie stars as symbols of luxury and wealth. In this regard, many viewed supermodels not so much as individuals but as images.

By the 1990s, the supermodel became increasingly prominent in the media.The title became tantamount to superstar, as her fame arose simply from "personality." She did talk shows, was cited in gossip columns, partied at the trendiest nightspots, landed movie roles, inspired franchises, dated or married a movie star, and earned herself millions.Fame empowered her to take charge of her career, to market herself, to command higher fees.

When Linda Evangelista mentioned to Vogue that "we don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day," she may have been playfully pretending the role of an up-scale union representative, yet that 1990 comment became the most notorious quote in modeling history. In 1991, Christy Turlington signed a contract with Maybelline that paid her $800,000 for twelve days' work each year. Four years later, Claudia Schiffer reportedly earned $12 million for her various modeling assignments. Authorities ranging from Karl Lagerfeld to Time had declared the supermodels more glamorous than movie stars.

Although many models were referred to as supermodels during this time, only the so-called "Big Six" were officially recognized and accepted by the fashion world as supermodels: Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. They were the most heavily in demand, collectively dominating magazine covers, fashion runways, editorial pages, and both print and broadcast advertising.Excluding Moss, they are known as the "original supermodels."

Late 1990s - present: Decline of the supermodel

In the late 1990s, actresses, pop singers, and other entertainment celebrities began gradually replacing models on fashion magazine covers and ad campaigns.The pendulum of limelight left many models in anonymity. A popular "conspiracy theory" explaining the supermodel's disappearance is that designers and fashion editors weary of the "I won't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day" attitude made sure no small group of models would ever again have the power of the Big Six. Yet Charles Gandee, associate editor at Vogue, has said that high prices and poor attitudes contributed less to the decline of the supermodel. As clothes became less flashy, designers turned to models who were less glamorous, so they wouldn't overpower the clothing. The majority of models come from non-English speaking countries and cultures, making the crossover to mainstream spokesperson and cover star difficult. The opportunities for super stardom were waning in the modeling world. Supermodels Tyra Banks and Lisa Snowdon left the business in May 2005, but Snowdon still does a spot of modeling here and there. The popular media apply the term loosely to some without worldwide recognition and extensive experience in haute couture. Geraldine Maillet, the celebrated French writer and former model, relates with humour and cynicism the rise and decline of the supermodels in her book Presque Top Model. In September 2007, Claudia Schiffer, when talking about modeling career said: "supermodels, like we once were, don't exist any more," and that Gisele Bündchen was the only one close to earning a supermodel title. Currently, according several fashion world's personalities, Bündchen is the only true supermodel of her generation.

แต่งตัว-แต่งหน้าแบบเกาหลี

หาก พูดถึงเรื่องแฟชั่นแล้ว ปัจจุบันนี้คงจะหนีไม่พ้นแฟชั่นที่มาแรงแซงทางโค้ง นั่นก็คือ แฟชั่นสไตล์เกาหลี กระแสนิยมที่กำลังมาแรงในปัจจุบัน

คำว่า แฟชั่น คงจะรวมไปถึงทุก ๆ อย่างที่กำลังเป็นที่นิยมและทันสมัยในแต่ละยุค ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่องเสื้อผ้าหลากหลายสไตล์ รองเท้า เครื่องประดับ ทรงผม โดยส่วนใหญ่แล้วคนที่นำแฟชั่นเหล่านี้คือ ดารา นักร้อง และที่ขาดไม่ได้คือ วิธีการแต่งหน้าสไตล์เกาหลี

แฟชั่นในยุคนี้ เทรนด์เกาหลีเริ่มเข้ามาในสังคมไทยเรามากสุด ๆ เมื่อพูดถึงคำ ๆ นี้คงไม่มีใครที่ไม่รู้จักนะคะ กระแสที่มาแรงทุกด้าน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นอุตสาหกรรมทางด้านการบันเทิง ดารา นักร้อง ซีรี่ส์ต่าง ๆ ในด้านของภาษาก็เป็นที่นิยมไม่น้อยหน้ากันเลยทีเดียว เดี๋ยวนี้มีจำนวนนิสิตนักศึกษาไม่น้อยที่สนใจและเลือกเรียนภาษาเกาหลีมาก ขึ้น พวกเราเริ่มรู้จักวัฒนธรรมเกาหลีกันมากขึ้นด้วย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นด้านอาหารการกิน การทักทาย และแฟชั่นเสื้อผ้า เพราะว่าคนเกาหลีเน้นสวมเสื้อผ้าตามฤดูกาลแตกต่างกันไป แต่ละฤดูมีลักษณะการแต่งกายที่ไม่เหมือนกัน เช่น

ฤดูใบไม้ผลิ หรือที่ภาษาเกาหลีเรียกว่า พม ฤดูนี้เสื้อผ้าจะเน้นสีเสื้อผ้าที่ฉูดฉาด สดใส เสื้อผ้ามีหลากหลายสไตล์ด้วยกัน

ฤดูร้อน หรือที่ภาษาเกาหลีเรียกว่า ยอรึม ใน ฤดูนี้เสื้อผ้าจะเน้นสีสดใสเช่นกัน แต่โทนสีอ่อนลงมากกว่า ลักษณะเสื้อผ้าจะเป็นเสื้อกล้าม เสื้อสายเดี่ยว กางเกงขาสั้น กางเกงสามส่วน เป็นต้น

ฤดูใบไม้ร่วง หรือที่ภาษาเกาหลีเรียกกันว่า คาอึล ในฤดูนี้เสื้อผ้าจะเน้นเสื้อผ้าสีทึบ ๆ มืด ๆ เช่น สีน้ำเงิน สีน้ำเงินเข้ม สีกรมท่า สีน้ำตาล

ฤดูหนาว หรือ คยออูล ฤดูนี้เสื้อผ้าส่วนใหญ่เน้นสีดำเป็นหลัก เสื้อแขนยาวสีเข้ม เสื้อกันหนาวสีดำ เสื้อไหมพรมใส่คู่กับผ้าพันคอสีเข้ม ๆ

เสื้อสไตล์เกาหลี โดยส่วนใหญ่แล้วจะใส่เสื้อสองตัวซ้อนกัน เหตุเป็นเพราะว่าอากาศในประเทศเกาหลีค่อนข้างหนาวเย็น เพราะฉะนั้นจึงเน้นเสื้อตัวยาว ๆ โทนสีอาจตัดกันหรือเป็นโทนเดียวกัน ขึ้นอยู่กับความชอบ ส่วนกางเกง มักเป็นกางเกงประมาณเข่า มีผ้าผูกเอวประดับแทนเข็มขัด ในฤดูหนาวจะเป็นกางเกงขายาวแทน

สำหรับผู้หญิง ก็จะเป็นกระโปรง ส่วนใหญ่แล้วออกแนวหวาน ๆ น่ารัก ๆ หากเป็นกระโปรงสั้น นิยมใส่เล็กกิ้งไว้ด้านใน แต่ส่วนมากผู้หญิงเกาหลีนิยมใส่ชุดแซ็ก
ส่วนรองเท้า ใส่รองเท้าส้นสูงเป็นหลัก หรือรองเท้าบู๊ต อาจจะเป็นเพราะสภาพอากาศ ลักษณะสีสันออกโทนสีพื้น ๆ
เครื่องประดับ ส่วนใหญ่ใช้เพชรคริสตัลเป็นส่วนประกอบ ลักษณะเหมือนทองคำขาว เงิน ไม่นิยมนำทองมาเป็นส่วนประกอบนะคะ
ทรงผม เน้นความเป็นธรรมชาติ นิยมดัดเป็นลอน ๆ คลื่น ๆ ทำผมให้ดูยุ่ง ๆ เป็นธรรมชาติ ทรงนี้สามารถทำได้ทั้งผู้หญิงและผู้ชาย
เครื่องประดับผมที่กำลังเป็นที่นิยมกันในตอนนี้ คือ ที่คาดผมแบบทูอินวัน (คาดหนึ่งอันแต่ดูเหมือนมีสองอัน) มีลักษณะแยกเป็นสองแฉกด้วยกัน มีสีสันสดใส มีลักษณะเป็นเพชร วับ ๆ หรือตามวัสดุที่ประดิษฐ์มา หรือเป็นกิ๊บติดผมแนวน่ารัก ๆ กุ๊กกิ๊ก

รวมไป ถึงแฟชั่นการแต่งหน้าแบบเกาหลีที่เป็นกระแสมาแรงสุด ๆ ในตอนนี้ การแต่งหน้าแบบเกาหลีจะเน้นแบบธรรมชาติเป็นหลัก การแต่งหน้าแบบนี้คนไทยเราก็กำลังฮิตกันมาก ๆ ลักษณะการแต่งหน้าแบบนี้ นอกจากจะดูสวยอย่างธรรมชาติแล้ว ยังให้ความรู้สึกที่สดใสอีกด้วย

คนเกาหลีเวลาแต่งหน้าจะเน้นที่ดวงตาเป็นหลัก อาจเป็นเพราะว่าคนเกาหลีมีจุดอ่อนที่ตา หมายถึงตาตี่ และมีชั้นเดียว สามารถลังเกตได้จากการที่คนเกาหลีทำศัลยกรรม ส่วนใหญ่แล้วคนเกาหลีเน้นทำตาสองชั้นเป็นหลัก แต่สำหรับคนที่ไม่ทำศัลยกรรมจะมีการแต่งดวงตาให้ดูคมชัดขึ้นและเป็นธรรมชาติ โดยเลือกสีอายแชโดว์ให้เข้ากับสีผิว หรือสีขนตา และควรใช้ประมาณ 3 สี โดยทาไล่ตามเฉดโทนอ่อนที่สุดไปจนถึงเข้มที่สุด และลงสีที่หนึ่งที่เป็นโทนสีอ่อนสุดบริเวณเปลือกตา ทาสีที่สองลงตรงบริเวณจุดกึ่งกลางของตา และเกลี่ยขึ้นข้างบน แล้วไล่สีที่สามจากหางตามาถึงบริเวณกึ่งกลางตาแล้วเกลี่ยขึ้น ลงสีที่เข้มที่สุดตามแนวชิดขอบตาอีกครั้ง และเกลี่ยให้เรียบเนียน

ถ้าอยากให้ดวงตาดูสวยคมชัดยิ่งขึ้น อย่าลืมเขียนขอบตาด้วยนะคะ แต่ควรเป็นชนิดเค้กอายไลเนอร์ เพราะดูซอฟต์เป็นธรรมชาติมากกว่า และไม่ควรเขียนแบบตวัดปลายขึ้น เขียนสีดำเฉพาะขอบตาบนเท่านั้น ซึ่งจะลากให้เป็นเส้นเล็กที่สุดโดยแทรกเข้าไประหว่างขนตา ค่อย ๆ แทรกซึมเข้าไป จากหัวตาจนถึงหางตาเท่า ๆ กัน และใช้แปรงเกลี่ยเพื่อไม่ให้เห็นเป็นเส้นขอบวาด

รักแห่งสยาม
เรื่องราวอบอุ่นเริ่มขึ้น....เมื่อสายลมหนาวแห่งฤดูกาลโพยพัดมา....ที่นี่แห่งนี้...สยาม แห่ง รัก

" โต้ง” (มาริโอ้ เมาเร่อ) เด็กชาย ม. 6 หน้าตาดี มีแฟนสวยเสียจนเพื่อนๆ และผู้ชายทั้งสยาม สแควร์จะต้องอิจฉา แต่ใครเลยจะรู้ว่าความสดใสและน่ารักของ “โดนัท” (อธิชา พงศ์ศิลป์พิพัฒน์) สำหรับโต้ง เริ่มจะกินไม่ได้เสียแล้ว โต้งเริ่มตีตัวออกห่างโดนัทและเริ่มค้นหาคำตอบให้กับชีวิตตัวเอง

ในขณะที่ “มิว” (วิชญ์วิสิฐ หิรัญวงษ์กุล) เด็ก ชายวัยเดียวกันผู้มีพรสวรรค์ทางดนตรีก็กำลังทุ่มเทความรักให้กับเสียงเพลง และวงดนตรีของตัวเอง มิวเป็นเด็กผู้ชายขี้เหงาที่ไม่เคยได้สัมผัสกับความรักมานานแสนนาน ตั้งแต่อาม่าตายจากไป ดังนั้น มันจึงเป็นเรื่องยากเหลือเกินสำหรับโจทย์ “เพลงรัก” ที่มิวต้องแต่งให้กับ ”วงออกัส” เพื่อนำไปเสนอกับค่ายเพลงใหญ่ ....ในเวลาเดียวกับที่ “หญิง” (กัญญา รัตนเพชร์) เพื่อนบ้านของมิวก็คอยให้กำลังใจและแอบมองมิวอยู่ห่างๆ แต่มิวก็ไม่เคยรับรู้ความรู้สึกที่หญิงมีต่อตัวเองเลย

และ แล้ววันหนึ่ง สยาม ก็เป็นที่ที่ทำโต้งและมิวก็ได้เจอกันอีกครั้ง หลังจากที่ขาดการติดต่อกันมานานตั้งแต่โต้งย้ายบ้านไปตอนเด็ก มิวแนะนำโต้งให้รู้จักกับ จูน (พลอย เฌอมาลย์) คนดูแลวงดนตรีของมิวที่หน้าตาเหมือนกับ แตง พี่สาวของโต้งที่หายตัวไปสมัยที่เขายังเด็ก โต้งจึงคิดแผนให้แม่ “สุนีย์” (สินจัย เปล่งพานิช) จ้างจูนปลอมตัวเป็นแตงเพื่อมารักษาอาการติดเหล้าให้กับพ่อ “กร” (ทรงสิทธิ์ รุ่งนพคุณศรี)

การเข้ามาของจูนทำให้ครอบครัวโต้งดีขึ้น ในขณะที่เพลงรักของมิวก็เริ่มก่อตัวเป็นรูปเป็นร่างขึ้น ความฝันของวงออกัสที่จะได้ออกอัลบั้มเริ่มใกล้เข้ามาทุกที แต่แล้วมิวก็หายตัวไปในวันออดิชั่น สร้างความเสียหายให้กับวง จนพี่อ๊อดโปรดิวเซอร์ตัดสินใจที่จะเปลี่ยนนักร้องนำและแล้ววันคริสมาสก็ใกล้ เข้ามา คอนเสิร์ตใหญ่ที่ทุกคนเฝ้ารอคอยก็กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในไม่ช้า วงออกัสจะได้เปิดตัวต่อสาธารณชนเป็นครั้งแรก มิวจะตัดสินใจอย่างไร แล้วใครจะเป็นผู้จับไมค์ร้องเพลงรักที่มิวเขียนขึ้น

“ปิดเทอมแล้วโว้ยยยย”

ด้วย ต้นทุนความหล่อที่พ่อให้มาอย่างพอ เพียง พุ-ไม้ จึงเข้าข่ายหล่อเลือกได้ เกมที่ฮิตที่สุดของพวกมันในช่วงปิดเทอม คือ แข่งขอเบอร์หญิง ทุกฤดูอำลาอาลัย สองหล่อจะแท็กทีมกันกลายร่างเป็นสมุดเฟรนด์ชิพให้สาว ๆ ม.6 มารุมฝากเบอร์ ดาวโรงเรียน พุ-ไม้ก็สอยเบอร์มาเมมชนิดเหงื่อไม่หยด จนกระทั่ง การมาถึงของเพื่อนเก่าสมัยอนุบาลที่ชื่อ นานา ยัยคนนี้เองที่ทำให้ พุ-ไม้ ถึงกับขอแตกคอกันชั่วคราว
พุ-วันคู่ ไม้-วันคี่ แฟร์ ๆ คนละวัน ใครจีบเบอร์นานาได้ก่อนชนะ!

“กรี๊ดดดดดดดดดดดด”

นอก จากร้านซีดีเอเชียแล้ว โอ๋เล็ก มั่นใจว่าคอลเล็กชั่น “ตี้ตี้” ของแฟนคลับนัมเบอร์วันอย่างเธอไม่เป็นสองรองใคร ซีดีทุกแผ่นทุกเพลงโอ๋เล็กท่องได้ขึ้นใจ แม้เธอจะไม่กระดิกสักนิดว่าคำจีนที่เธอร้องปาว ๆ เป็นภาษาคาราโอเกะนั้นมันแปลว่าอะไร ความจริงข้อนี้เองที่ทำให้โอ๋เล็กขัดใจ ก่อนวันคอนเสิร์ตครั้งแรกในเมืองไทยหน้าร้อนนี้ เธอจะต้องซาบซึ้งในเนื้อเพลงของ “ตี้ตี้” ให้จงได้
โอ๋เล็กลงทุนไปสมัครเรียนภาษาที่วัดจีน เพื่อการร้องเพลงตี้ตี้แบบอินๆ !

โจ้ เริ่มภารกิจเฉลยความนัยกับ ซี อย่างที่ตั้งใจ แผนหนึ่ง ชวนดูหนัง, แผนสองหลุดความในใจ, แผนสามเซอร์ไพร์สเพื่อคนที่คุณรัก, แผนสี่ประกาศให้โลกรู้ โจ้ทึกทักเอาเองว่าวีรกรรมที่มันเพียรพยายามทำเพื่อซีนั้น คือ ความหวาน โดยไม่เฉลียวใจเลยว่า สาวเจ้าจะรู้สึกว่ามัน “เลี่ยน”

How to copy image and paste an image into your computer?

Internet friendship
Internet friendships are friendships between people who have met online, and in some cases know each other only via the Internet. Online friendships are similar in many ways to penpal relationships and, like internet romance, they have been widely debated and often criticised.

It is arguably very difficult for people to establish meaningful relationships with those they can't see or interact with. Without verbal and physical cues that assist in gauging a person's emotions and feelings, there is a high possibility of deception. Since the development of high-speed, broadband internet, the face of Internet friendships has changed significantly. It is possible to hold real-time audio and video conversations over the Internet (creating telepresence), providing additional levels of interactivity beyond plain text.

Still, use of these technologies is not always feasible or convenient, and some people may prefer not to use them.

As in any matter involving human interpersonal relationships, the outcomes of such relationships can vary widely. There have been many cases where relationships that began as online romances led to meetings and long term relationships or marriage. In cases where people in a relationship are geographically separate, the relationship can often be started or continued online (in some cases for some time between an initial meeting and one of those involved moving), this bears significant similarity to long distance relationships which were maintained over other forms of long distance communication in the past, including telephonic or penpal relationships. It has been argued that the development of the internet added a significant enhancement to long distance relationships (regardless of whether those involved had met physically) because it allows for much more frequent and personal conversation than any previous technology had, thereby reducing some of the difficulties associated with traditional long distance relationships. Some have even argued that it is in some ways preferable, since couples who meet online are forced to spend a significant part of their early time in the relationship on conversation, rather than sexuality, thus developing the emotional and interpersonal side of the relationship more deeply than is commonly the case in traditional intimate relationships. This argument is particularly used by couples who met and established successful long-term physical relationships at least initially online.

hi5 is a social networking website, which, throughout 2007, was one of the 25 most visited sites on the web.The company was founded in 2002 by Ramu Yalamanchi who is also the current CEO. As of December 2007, hi5 has over 98 million members.

Hi5 Features
In hi5, users create an online profile in order to show information such as interests, age and hometown and upload user pictures where users can post comments. hi5 also allows the user to create personal photo albums and set up a music player in the profile. Users can also send friend requests via e-mail to other users. When a person receives a friend request, he or she may accept or decline it, or block the user altogether. If the user accepts another user as a friend, the two will be connected directly or in the 1st degree. The user will then appear on the person's friend list and vice-versa.

Some users opt to make their profiles available for everyone on hi5 to view. Other users exercise the option to make their profile viewable only to those people who are in their network. The network of friends consists of a user's direct friends (1st degree), the friends of those direct friends (2nd degree) and the friends of the friends of direct friends (3rd degree).

MySpace is a popular social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos for teenagers and adults internationally. Its headquarters are in Beverly Hills, California, USA, where it shares an office building with its immediate owner, Fox Interactive Media; which is owned by News Corporation, which has its headquarters in New York City.

The company employs 300 staff and does not disclose revenues or profits separately from News Corporation. The 100 millionth account was created on August 6, 2006 in the Netherlands and a news story claimed 106 million accounts on September 8, 2006, and the site reportedly attracts 230,000 new registrations per day.

Bulletins

Bulletins are posts that are posted on to a "bulletin board" for everyone on a MySpace user's friends list to see. Bulletins can be useful for contacting an entire friends list without resorting to messaging users individually. Some users choose to use Bulletins as a service for delivering chain messages about politics, religion, or anything else and sometimes these chain messages are considered threatening to the users, especially the ones that mention bad luck, death, or topics similar to that. They have also become the primary attack point for phishing. Bulletins are deleted after ten days.

Groups

MySpace has a Groups feature which allows a group of users to share a common page and message board. Groups can be created by anybody, and the moderator of the group can choose for anyone to join, or to approve or deny requests to join.

An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user-generated content.Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, fora (the Latin plural) or simply forums. The terms "forum" and "board" may refer to the entire community or to a specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Social web
The Social Web refers to two different, yet related concepts. The first is as a description of web 2.0 technologies that are focused on social interaction and community before anything else. The second is a proposal for a future network similar to the World Wide Web.

The Social Web as a future network
The first is an open global distributed data sharing network similar to today's World Wide Web, except instead of linking documents, the Social Web will link people, organizations, and concepts.

The use of the term in this context was introduced in a July 2004 paper called "The Social Web: Building an Open Social Network with XDI" published in the PlaNetwork Journal by members of the OASIS XDI Technical Committee.

A social network service uses software to build online social networks for communities of people who share interests and activities or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others.

Most services are primarily web-based and provide a collection of various ways for users to interact, such as chat, messaging, email, video, voice chat, file sharing, blogging, discussion groups, and so on. Social networking has revolutionized the way we communicate and share information with one another in today's society. Various social networking websites are being used by millions of people everyday on a regular basis and it now seems that social networking is a part of everyday life. The main types of social networking services are those which contain directories of some categories (such as former classmates), means to connect with friends (usually with self-description pages), and recommender systems linked to trust. Popular methods now combine many of these, with MySpace and Facebook being the most widely used in North America; Bebo, MySpace, Skyrock Blog , Facebook and Hi5 in parts of Europe; Orkut and Hi5 in South America and Central America; and Friendster, Orkut and CyWorld in Asia and the Pacific Islands.

There have been some attempts to standardize these services to avoid the need to duplicate entries of friends and interests (see the FOAF standard and the Open Source Initiative), but this has led to some concerns about privacy.

History of social network services
The notion that individual computers linked electronically could form the basis of computer mediated social interaction and networking was suggested early on. There were many early efforts to support social networks via computer-mediated communication, including Usenet, ARPANET, LISTSERV, bulletin board services (BBS), and EIES: Murray Turoff's server-based Electronic Information Exchange Service (Turoff and Hiltz, 1978, 1993). The Information Routing Group developed a schema about how the proto-Internet might support this.

Early social networking websites included Classmates.com (1995), focusing on ties with former school mates, and SixDegrees.com (1997), focusing on indirect ties. User profiles could be created, messages sent to users held on a “friends list” and other members could be sought out who had similar interests to yours in their profiles Whilst these features had existed in some form before SixDegrees.com came about, this would be the first time these functions were available in one package. Despite these new developments (that would later catch on and become immensely popular), the website simply wasn’t profitable and eventually shut down . It was even described by the website’s owner as “simply ahead of its time.” Two different models of social networking that came about in 1999 were trust-based, developed by Epinions.com, and friendship-based, such as those developed by Jonathan Bishop and used on some regional UK sites between 1999 and 2001. Innovations included not only showing who is "friends" with whom, but giving users more control over content and connectivity. By 2005, one social networking service MySpace, was reportedly getting more page views than Google, with Facebook, a competitor, rapidly growing in size. In 2007, Facebook began allowing externally-developed add-on applications, and some applications enabled the graphing of a user's own social network - thus linking social networks and social networking.

Social networking began to flourish as a component of business internet strategy at around March 2005 when Yahoo launched Yahoo! 360°. In July 2005 News Corporation bought MySpace, followed by ITV (UK) buying Friends Reunited in December 2005. Various social networking sites have sprung up catering to different languages and countries. Business applications
Social networks connect people at low cost; this can be beneficial for entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to expand their contact base. These networks often act as a customer relationship management tool for companies selling products and services. Companies can also use social networks for advertising in the form of banners and text ads. Since businesses operate globally, social networks can make it easier to keep in touch with contacts around the world.

A good example of social networking being used for business purposes is LinkedIn.com. It is a social networking site with the aim of connecting professionals together. It has, become one of the most powerful and widely used professional networking sites, with more than 20 million registered users from 150 different industries.

Professional networking sites function as online meeting places for business and industry professionals. Other sites are bringing this model for niche business professional networking.

Virtual communities for business allow individuals to be accessible. People establish their real identity in a verifiable place. These individuals then interact with each other or within groups that share common business interests and goals. They can also post their own user generated content in the form of blogs, pictures, slide shows and videos. Like a social network, the consumer essentially becomes the publisher.

A professional network is used for the business to business marketplace. These networks improve the ability for people to advance professionally. Business professionals can share experiences with others who have a need to learn from similar experiences. Additionally, the ability to find, connect and network with other business professionals is one reason why LinkedIn is so popular.

The traditional way to interact is face-to-face. Interactive technology makes it possible for people to network with their peers from anywhere, at anytime in an online environment. Professional network services attract, aggregate and assemble large business-focused audiences by creating informative and interactive meeting places.

Medical applications
Social networks are beginning to be adopted by healthcare professionals as a means to manage institutional knowledge, disseminate peer to peer knowledge and to highlight individual physicians and institutions. The advantage of using a dedicated medical social networking site is that all the members are screened against the state licensing board list of practitioners.

The role of social networks is especially of interest to pharmaceutical companies who spend approximately "32 percent of their marketing dollars" attempting to influence the opinion leaders of social networks.

A good example of social networking being used for medical purposes is the website Sermo, which is an online community for American physicians. “Sermo is aimed at advancing the available universe of medical knowledge.” It does this by bringing doctors, who would ordinarily struggle to have contact with each other, together. They can share knowledge and discuss clinical subjects in an easy to use environment and with a large user base of other physicians. Using sermo.com allows physicians to “deliver better and more accurate care to patients than has been possible in the past.

Social networks for social good
Several websites are beginning to tap into the power of the social networking model for social good. Such models may be highly successful for connecting otherwise fragmented industries and small organizations without the resources to reach a broader audience with interested and passionate users. Use of CSS
Prior to CSS, nearly all of the presentational attributes of HTML documents were contained within the HTML markup; all font colors, background styles, element alignments, borders and sizes had to be explicitly described, often repeatedly, within the HTML. CSS allows authors to move much of that information to a separate stylesheet resulting in considerably simpler HTML markup.

ก่อนอื่นถ้าเพื่อนๆเคยใส่สกินใน Hi5 แล้วจะต้องทำการ ลบสกิน (Remove Skin) ก่อนถึงจะทำการเพิ่มรูปพื้นหลังใน Hi5 ชองเราได้ครับ (ไอคอนรูป X)

ถ้าเราทำการลบสกิน Hi5 อันเก่าของเราแล้ว เมนูนี้จะเปลี่ยนเป็นกำหนดรูปแบบโปรไฟล์ครับ (ไอคอนรูปดาว)

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
In web development, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can be applied to any kind of XML document, including SVG and XUL.

CSS is used to help readers of web pages to define colors, fonts, layout, and other aspects of document presentation. It is designed primarily to enable the separation of document content (written in HTML or a similar markup language) from document presentation (written in CSS). This separation can improve content accessibility, provide more flexibility and control in the specification of presentation characteristics, and reduce complexity and repetition in the structural content. CSS can also allow the same markup page to be presented in different styles for different rendering methods, such as on-screen, in print, by voice (when read out by a speech-based browser or screen reader) and on Braille-based, tactile devices. CSS specifies a priority scheme to determine which style rules apply if more than one rule matches against a particular element. In this so-called cascade, priorities or weights are calculated and assigned to rules, so that the results are predictable.

The CSS specifications are maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Internet media type (MIME type) text/css is registered for use with CSS by RFC 2318 (March 1998).

Syntax
CSS has a simple syntax, and uses a number of English keywords to specify the names of various style properties.

A style sheet consists of a list of rules. Each rule or rule-set consists of one or more selectors and a declaration block. A declaration-block consists of a list of semicolon-separated declarations in curly braces. Each declaration itself consists of a property, a colon (:), a value, then a semi-colon (;).

In CSS, selectors are used to declare which elements a style applies to, a kind of match expression. Selectors may apply to all elements of a specific type, or only those elements which match a certain attribute; elements may be matched depending on how they are placed relative to each other in the markup code, or on how they are nested within the document object model.

In addition to these, a set of pseudo-classes can be used to define further behavior. Probably the best-known of these is :hover, which applies a style only when the user 'points to' the visible element, usually by holding the mouse cursor over it. It is appended to a selector as in a:hover or #elementid:hover. Other pseudo-classes and pseudo-elements are, for example, :first-line, :visited or :before. A special pseudo-class is :lang(c), "c".

A pseudo-class selects entire elements, such as :link or :visited, whereas a pseudo-element makes a selection that may consist of partial elements, such as :first-line or :first-letter.

Selectors may be combined in other ways too, especially in CSS 2.1, to achieve greater specificity and flexibility.

Use of CSS
Prior to CSS, nearly all of the presentational attributes of HTML documents were contained within the HTML markup; all font colors, background styles, element alignments, borders and sizes had to be explicitly described, often repeatedly, within the HTML. CSS allows authors to move much of that information to a separate stylesheet resulting in considerably simpler HTML markup.

Headings (h1 elements), sub-headings (h2), sub-sub-headings (h3), etc., are defined structurally using HTML. In print and on the screen, choice of font, size, color and emphasis for these elements is presentational.

Prior to CSS, document authors who wanted to assign such typographic characteristics to, say, all h2 headings had to use the HTML font and other presentational elements for each occurrence of that heading type. The additional presentational markup in the HTML made documents more complex, and generally more difficult to maintain. In CSS, presentation is separated from structure. In print, CSS can define color, font, text alignment, size, borders, spacing, layout and many other typographic characteristics. It can do so independently for on-screen and printed views. CSS also defines non-visual styles such as the speed and emphasis with which text is read out by aural text readers. The W3C now considers the advantages of CSS for defining all aspects of the presentation of HTML pages to be superior to other methods. It has therefore deprecated the use of all the original presentational HTML markup.
